Losing Focus

Since giving my notice at work, I can't seem to hone my focus at work or on anything else.  This demonstrated itself quite forcibly last night.  Upon returning from a Stitch n' Bitch with Monique, Robyn and Sue, I ran into the garage door.

Yup, you heard me right.  I came to a stop before the door and then somehow my foot hit the gas ever so gently and WHAM, I hit the garage door.  You would be amazed at how much give a garage door has.

It seems mostly unharmed by my rampage but there is a crack in the paint job on the inside of the door.

One might think that this would help focus me in some way but nnnnoooooooo.  Today was yet another aimless day.

A Parsec????

By the title, you might think that I was an astrophysist or something but nooooo......I just like alliteration and a parsec is very large (parallax of one arcsecond;  is a unit of length, equal to just under 31 trillion kilometres or about 19 trillion miles), and I feel like the world is opening up with possibility.  Those who are close to me will know that Veve and I have been talking about taking a year long sabbatical starting in December.  Well, it turns out that it is going to happen sooner than expected.

Some recent events lead to the decision to give notice at work and start the sabbatical as of June 1st!!

Holy crap - you say.  Well, Veve said kinda the same thing!  He has been incredibly supportive and has handled the huge life change with great aplomb.

Veve says I always have to do something that makes me committ to a project (like the time I casually reached over, grabbed a small piece of loose wallpaper and pulled upward so it took a huge chunk off-now we had to remove the wallpaper in the entire room) but this is a little insane. There were a couple of days of me saying to myself "Good God girl...what the #%&%&% have you done!" but that is over and I am only looking ahead and seeing all the possibilities of the adventures we can have.

So here we are, trying to get organized to rent out the house, find a home for the cats and plan a sabbatical we thought we had about 9 months to plan.  All this in 2.5 months.  So, tomorrow, I am going to start the project of painting the downstairs bathroom cupboard (oh so 70s right now).

The idea is to keep this blog as we move towards leaving on sabbatical and while we are away so everyone can keep up to date with our escapades.

I hope you will join us on our adventures.
